Following on from last years screening of John Smith early shorts at the Filmhouse Rhubaba present recent shorts, John Smith’s own selection of his latest film work. This year we are please to have him with us after the screening for a Q+A with the audience.
These new films made between 2004 and 2012 continue Smith’s inquisitive and curious approach to filmmaking. The films, mostly shot from a first person perspective, balance personal experience, serendipity and contructed narratives in exploring the strangeness within certain decisions and behaviour. In this selection of shorts we are taken for a tour of a hotel room at night, Museum Piece a search on ebay, unusual Red cardigan, and an insight into Smith’s Father through stories about a few of his possessions, Dad’s Stick.
