New members’ night Rhubaba Choir

6.30-8.30PM
13 February 2020
Rhubaba, 25 Arthur Street, EH6 5DA

All are invited to join us for a new members’ evening on Thursday 13th Februrary.

Rhubaba choir are looking for new members to be part of an exciting programme of upcoming projects in 2020, beginning by working with artist Kathryn Elkin to produce a new piece.

Whilst we welcome new members throughout the year, we understand that it can be tricky to get round to, or maybe coming along by yourself and maybe being the only new person can be a little daunting. Maybe, you didn’t know we existed! If any of those things have previously stopped you from coming along to sing with the Rhubaba choir… THIS NIGHT IS FOR YOU!

The Rhubaba Choir provides the opportunity for individuals to sing together in a welcoming, eclectic group and share singing experiences. We welcome anyone who wants to lend their voice, regardless of prior musical experience. We mostly work by ear, rather than from sheet music, songs are sung in simple harmonies and embrace the joys of singing!

We often invite artists to work with us and to use the choir as a tool, sometimes on big projects and sometimes for one-off workshops. In the past we’ve worked with Tessa Lynch, Sion Parkinson, Serena Korda and Richy Carey, amongst others. You can have a look at some of our past projects in the ‘Choir section of the Rhubaba website, via the link above.
For the new members’ night, we’ll begin with an intro to the choir and sing one or two of the pieces we’ve been working on recently, then after a break for soup we’ll hear from Kathryn about what we’ll be working on with her. New members can join in with the practice as little or as much as they are comfortable with. There are no auditions for Rhubaba choir and all newcomers are welcome!

The choir usually meets every other Thursday, with the occasional weekend workshop. We ask for a £3 contribution which goes towards the cost of providing soup and refreshments at the practices. No one turned away for lack of funds.
