Call out for new Board Member

Rhubaba Gallery and Studios are looking for a committed individual with specific skills in development and fundraising within the charity sector to take on the voluntary role of Trustee, to expand and enhance the range of current skills and expertise on the Board of Trustees.

Rhubaba Mission Statement

You will have to walk all around to see it
You will have to stay with it to know it.

Thomas A. Clark

Rhubaba is a co-production authored by the interests of those that form it. This co-production is shaped by on-going relationships between members, studio-holders, invited artists and publics.

All our activities are developed and delivered on an artist-first basis, with a priority given to conversation and collaboration. Hospitality is key to this process.

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated person who is sympathetic to the aims and objectives of Rhubaba, and we expect Trustees to contribute actively to the Board by giving strategic direction; with the committee, agreeing overall policy, goals and targets; evaluating performance; and ensuring the charity’s effective and efficient administration and financial stability. We particularly welcome applications from those with experience of capital development projects and fundraising.

There is no need to have previous Trustee experience to apply, but an interest in the arts and an affinity with Rhubaba’s values is necessary. Rhubaba encourages all applications, particularly from those who are currently underrepresented on boards of visual arts organisations in the UK. Rhubaba welcomes all people no matter their age, race, gender, sex, sexual orientation, religion or belief, class, cultural background, disability, marital status, pregnancy or maternity status (Please note our current building is not fully accessible to all, please email info@rhubaba.org to discuss).

Board Member posts are voluntary and unpaid. Trustees are required to attend in-person four board meetings that happen quarterly each year (usually during weekday evenings at 6.30pm for approx 2 hours). Whilst social distancing measures are in place we are conducting Board interaction via Zoom and email. Details of Rhubaba’s current Board of Trustees and committee can be found elsewhere on our website. To request more information about the role or constitutional documents please email info@rhubaba.org.

How to Apply

Please send an expression of interest (no longer than one A4 page) outlining your experience and reasons for wanting to join Rhubaba’s Board to info@rhubaba.org.

Deadline for applications: Monday 27th July 5pm
